“Rhythm Summit,”  a taiko and jazz collaboration supported in part by the Mayor Mufi Hanneman’s Office on Culture & the Arts Production Grant featuring Noel Okimoto (drumset, vibraphone), Dean Taba (bass), and Kenny Endo (taiko)

The concert honors two of Kenny’s mentors; Barbara B Smith, esteemed ethnomusicologist who just celebrated her 100th birthday and William P Malm, foremost academic expert of Japanese music who recently donated a set of instruments which they will use in the concert.

The concert also celebrate’s Kenny’s 45th anniversary of playing taiko.

The Statewide Cultural Extension Program (SCEP), a program of the University of Hawaii Mānoa Outreach College, expands its SCEP Live Online offerings with a fall concert series. On Fridays October 2, 9, 16, and 23, live musical performances by local artists will be streamed for audiences to enjoy in the comfort and safety of their own homes. The free hour-long performances will start at 7:00pm.

The fall concert series is a joint effort between the UH Mānoa Outreach College, UH Mānoa Music Department, the East-West Center Arts Program, and Friends of Manoa Library.
